Privacy Policy

ES&E regards information gathered in the course of producing and distributing the magazine as proprietary, and not to be shared with companies other than to ensure the timely and accurate distribution of the magazine and /or industry relevant information, i.e. product, service or event literature, to subscribers. We are committed to the following principles:

Accountability

The Publisher is the designated Privacy Officer for ES&E. He is responsible for ensuring the principles of this policy are adhered to.

Purpose of Data Collection

ES&E collects a very limited amount of information from its subscribers. This data includes name, title/position, business name and address, telephone and fax numbers, e-mail and website address (where applicable). In addition, we may ask what types of goods or services the subscriber's company sells or buys. This information is collected for the following purposes:

  1. To determine if the person supplying the information qualifies for a controlled (free) subscription to a magazine (based upon professional services or industry affiliation).
  2. To help target editorial content for the reader's benefit.
  3. To advise advertisers and potential advertisers of the type of readers, so that they may include goods and services in their advertisements that are of interest to them.

Consent

Prior to beginning a paid subscription to ES&E consent to receive the magazine is obtained from the subscriber through the completion of a subscription form (including signature) or through an online form on the ES&E website (checking off the consent box is the equivalent of a signature).

ES&E is also sent on a complimentary basis to individuals in the industry served by the publication. The name and address information for such individuals may be obtained from a variety of sources, including, but not limited to, association membership lists, business directories and tradeshow attendee lists.

If a subscriber indicates that he or she no longer wishes to receive ES&E,, that individual's mailing information is purged from our active mailing database. It is archived for up to 12 months for BPA/CCAB auditing purposes only.

Limiting Collection

Any additional data that is collected (i.e. payment information) is stored in a secure database with access restricted to authorized personnel only. At no time is subscriber information ever shared, be it personal or company, outside of its original purpose.

Use, Disclosure, Retention

ES&E's collection of information is limited to that necessary for magazine subscriptions. All data is kept in accordance with BPA\CCAB audit requirements for the duration of three years, or until it is renewed.

ES&E does occasionally rent or share its mailing list or any other collected information with outside companies, through a bonded mailing or fulfillment house. This is for the purpose of mailing the magazine or industry relevant information, i.e. product, service or event literature, to subscribers.

Safeguards

All data is held in secured offices that have no public access. Computers on which the data is stored are password protected and a firewall prevents unauthorized outside access.

All ES&E staff members are aware of the proprietary nature of our mailing lists and that they must keep them confidential. All staff members have a copy of this privacy policy and are expected to adhere to its provisions at all times.

Individual Access

Any subscriber can update his or her mailing information at any time in writing by either postal service, fax, email or using our website, www.esemag.com.

Many people believe that when a web site is created that it will automatically work on all browsers in use on the internet today, sadly this is not the case. While we make every effort to support the largest cross-section of modern browsers in use today, unfortunately it is simply impossible to support them all.

This web site has been designed to work with the top 3 internet browsers in use today which are Internet Explorer version 7 and up, FireFox version 3 and up, and Safari version 4 and up on both PC and MAC operating platforms.

If you are not currently using one of the above supported browsers, then you may find that the site does not operate as it should, and this may lead to some frustration. To alleviate this situation we respectfully ask that you please update your system to include one the above browsers in order to have the best possible user experience. Updates to these browsers are available online for free, are easy to do, and take a relatively short time to complete.

Once you have upgraded your system to include one of the above modern browsers, you will begin to enjoy the benefits of a faster, more secure and enriching internet experience.

Thank you.
